PEARL YIM is a UK-Chinese award-winning composer, conductor, orchestrator and arranger specialising in film, animation and games. She graduated at Seattle Film Institute, USA in 2019, having studied under two-time Emmy Award composer Hummie Mann (Robin Hood: Man In Tights, Thomas and the Magic Railroad, Language of the Heart, Year of the Comet), obtaining a Master’s of Music degree in Film Composition.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in England, Pearl began her musical journey by playing the violin and piano since childhood. She subsequently immersed herself in numerous music studies and activities in her formative years and received an Honours Bachelor Degree in Music at University of York, UK in 2012. From then onwards, she started to work as a freelance composer and arranger, whilst expanding her experiences in orchestration and conducting. Her projects have currently spanned across USA, Canada, UK, France and Singapore.

Pearl’s music has regularly been featured at Edinburgh Fringe Festivals through her collaborations with Red Dragonfly Productions, a British East Asian Theatre Company in UK. For their latest show, An Evening with Miss Wong, Edinburgh49 described Pearl’s song arrangements as:

“ALL LOVELY…UNTIL THE FINALE OF THE SHOW, A SOULFUL, HEARTENING RENDITION OF “THESE FOOLISH THINGS”…THAT DESERVES OVATION ALL BY ITSELF.”
